I am looking to breaking into teaching in a FE College. However I have been posed with a problem. Minimum teaching qualifications are sought i.e. Assessor awards D32/33 or the new A1/A2. The jobs appear not to be available to any body without the qualifications. The qualifications are not available without the job! I find this situation a little strange in the least. I was also under the impression that FE teaching posts are difficult to fill and staff have been lost to both industry and the sec ...

NSW public teachers were today striking in an attempt to get taxpayers to meet their insane demand for a 25% wage increase over two years. What possible grounds would these teachers have for such a demand, when their collective performance has been such that parents have been fleeing the public system over the past years in a bid to get quality education and discipline for their children from independent schools that are responsive to the demands of PARENTS, not UNIONS. In case anybody actually ...

Massachusetts Charter Schools - Massachusetts Department of Education The increased freedom available to charter schools coupled with increased accountability, infuses all aspects of the Department of Education's oversight of charter schools, beginning with the rigorous application process that groups must go through to receive a charter. Once the Board of Education has awarded a charter, the new charter school has the freedom to organize around a core mission, curriculum, theme, or teaching method. It is allowed to control its own budget and hire (and fire) teachers and staff. In return for this freedom, a charter school must demonstrate good results ...

Resources for autistic students are few in rural communities About autism Autism defined: Autism spectrum disorders, as they commonly are identified, are developmental disabilities that affect areas of the brain controlling social interaction and communication skills. Incidence : In a study released this year, the Centers for Disease Control estimated that one in 150 children may have autism spectrum disorder. That figure was based on the results of surveys in 20 U.S. communities. According to U.S. Department of Education statistics, the number of autistic children nationwide served under the Individuals with Disabilities Act rose more than ...
Although opportunities are on the rise for Ohio's autistic students, those from rural counties may not benefit as much as their metropolitan counterparts, officials say. While 600 autistic students statewide currently benefit from the state's autism scholarship program, for example, few of them are from rural areas and even fewer from Licking County. The reason? "There is just not the availability of those scholarship services in Licking County," said Mark Severance, director of special education for Newark City Schools. "You pretty much have ...
First Hebrew charter school in US criticized even before it opens Ben Gamla Charter School is billed as the first publicly funded Hebrew-English school in the U.S. Its Aug. 20 opening has prompted fears of religion creeping into public schools — in violation of the American political doctrine of the separation of church and state that is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. The Ben Gamla school — named for Jewish high priest in the first century who encouraged education — has even drawn unlikely criticism from groups that defend Jewish causes. Similar criticisms have been raised against Arabic-language ...
Schools urged to speed up review Parents are questioning why Harford County school administrators took longer than expected to begin reviewing high school reforms that went into effect last fall. As part of sweeping changes to Harford County high schools, the public school system instituted a Comprehensive Secondary School Reform Plan. One of the most contentious aspects of the plan was that all nine Harford County high schools adopt the block schedule. With a block schedule, students have a four-period day, with each period ...
When the board approved the reforms in 2005, it agreed to have an independent firm review the data after the first year the plan was implemented. "By the end of the first year, hire an outside firm to review and document the impact and range of outcomes resulting from CSSRP," according to the document in which the county Board of Education outlined the process to evaluate the reforms. The document states that the data would be collected in July. This month, the school system hired three researchers from Towson University to review the plan. In a Board of Education ...
