TyKelly Public Relations: Services ??? For For Nonprofits, Faith Nonprofit organizations are often the lifeblood of a community because usually they are the bridge between government and private enterprise. TKPR realizes the critical need for these organizations because they are a part of the economic, social and otherwise healthy well being of a community. However, these organizations are also faced with serious issues relating to structure, identity, and positioning.
In my 15 years in the field of marketing communications, I have found that many non-profit organizations believe that one story or one brochure will garner all the public awareness needed. Nothing could be further from the truth. At its essence, PR is about building relationships with people. It's about seeking supporters and partners, and creatively communicating to them, through various channels, why something is relevant and what they should do about it. These types of communications can be costly, but a wise use of PR can make it affordable - -much more affordable than traditional advertising.

Memorandum on Additional Guidelines for Charter Schools - Bill My Administration has taken landmark steps to help State and localities improve educational opportunities for students by providing much needed resources to reduce class size, improve teacher quality, and expand summer school and after-school programs. Last year, for the first time ever, the Federal Government provided funds to States and localities specifically to intervene and assist low-performing schools. This year, our School Improvement Fund will provide $134 million to States and localities to help them turn around low-performing schools. In addition, ...
One of the most heartening educational developments during my Administration is the extraordinary growth of public charter schools. In 1992, just before I took office, there was only one charter school in the country, City Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota. Since then, because of strong leadership at the local, State, and Federal level, the number of charter schools has exploded and it is now estimated that there are more than 1,700 charter schools nationwide. The Federal Government has invested almost $400 million in charter schools since 1994, and advocates of charter schools ...

What about Equal Funding for Faith - Based Education? National and local Ontario newspapers have been filled in recent weeks with articles and letters to the editor on the question of extending public funding to faith-based schools. Public funding of faith-based schools would promote segregation and division according to some. Others see it as an initiative that would allow greater public scrutiny of an existing network of faith-based schoolsnot the expensive private ones that will likely remain so, but the cover-the-costs not-for-profit and charitable institutions that are educating tens of thousands of children. ...
Canada is constitutionally a multicultural nation. Section 27 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms identifies "the preservation and enhancement of the multicultural heritage of Canadians" as one of the principles for interpreting the Charter . Canada is not a "melting pot," the term used in the United States to describe efforts to establish a common culture among its citizenry. Canada's multicultural nature began with a co-operative venture between those of French descentpredominantly Roman Catholicand those of English descentvarious expressions of Protestant Christianitybut now includes a rich mixture of people whose roots encompass the globe, ...
Court ruling seals fate of Northfield charter school A dozen students may still return for free instruction from former Village School teachers this fall, but on paper, the Northfield charter school has been dead for a year, and a court ruling last week has all but eliminated the school's chances of reopening. In a decision issued July 31, the Minnesota Court of Appeals denied the Village School's attempt to force the Northfield School District to reconsider a May 2006 decision that effectively shut down the school. The district decided not to renew its sponsorship of the school, citing concerns about academic performance ...
Community collaboration adorns downtown firehouse The firefighting mural is the collaborative's fourth public art project. The first, dedicated in 2002, recognizes community leaders in the city's East Side, while the second, painted two years later in the Valley Community Garden, honors the civil rights movement in the city. The third and only indoor mural, gracing Wilmington Public Library North Branch since 2005, stresses reading as the key to knowledge.

Mark Sanford, gives students greater flexibility to earn graduation credits online and take courses such as Advanced Placement or foreign languages that aren’t normally offered in many school districts. Jewish Journal, CA: Jewish-oriented charter school in Florida to open amid controversy - The new Ben Gamla Charter School in Hollywood, FL could serve as a national model, providing families with a financially accessible option at a time when most non-Orthodox households are opting not to send their children to Jewish day schools. Critics worry that it will serve as a road map for religious communities seeking to lower the wall separating church and state. Colorado Springs Gazette: 'R' REMOVED - Thursday night, the Falcon School District 49 board adopted one of the Pikes ...
How much less can we do? 1 comments: Anonymous said... How do you make sure education of our children does not become twisted and poisoned by business the way many businesses have become today? What protection mesures will be placed so that education will stay competitive for the ones in school, and will not fall away when the company finds itself going under from other sources of competition? If the government is going to be "inspecting" these businesses, who checks the government on where the money goes for these schools? If it is to become affordable, how will it remain within reach ...
A REAL Revitalization Plan by Akindele Akinyemi Mayor Kilpatrick is pushing his Next Detroit Neighborhood Initiative. I was at a meeting in Brightmoor last Friday getting involved in the process with the Skillman Foundation. Brightmoor is fertile ground for bringing in new charter schools as well as promoting free market enterprises to the district. Since the district itself has been targeted for redevelopment we cannot say that Mayor Kilpatrick is doing this so he can bring in White people. White folks already live in this district and they are catching just as much hell as Black folks who live here.
They are closing Redford High School in this area. So what? We still have Old Redford Academy (a charter school), and we can build a new charter high school in the area (if not two). Charters are PUBLIC SCHOOLS also, lest we forget. I propose that within Brightmoor we begin to push for an educational empowerment zone where new schools in the area will receive tax breaks as well as contributing to economic development in the area.
May Ren10 Newsletter I object to the comment that AUSL have successfully turned around Sherman, they just took charge. Dodge haven't been in operation long enough to say it has been turned around. CPS has accountability standards for charter schools and public schools. ACT charter high school ranks 61 out of 87 high schools. On 2006 PSAE 76% of students failed to meet standards in reading and 91% in math. According to federal accountability standards they should be a school scheduled for re-structuring.
What is How does ACT rank in comparison to high schools in the Garfield Park neighborhood? Over 95 pecent of the kids that attend ACT come from that neighborhood. There are no tests to get in. In the same way that is not fair to judge the success of Orr in comparison to Northside College Prep, ACT should be judged in comparison to the other educational opportunities in that neighborhood. How does the college placement rate of ACT compare to neighborhood high schools? I would hazard to guess it is not even close.
