Radio National's Background Briefing producer ...

This kid broke away from a juvenile home very recently (while he was sitting by the door--shoes on and everything) and went on the lam. Then he proceeded to rob from his aunt, steal the car of his grandfather's widow's son, and rob his own mother. Then my fr ...

$1.7M in cuts funds jail stopgap Portune said cuts would be needed in the county's current budget to fund the Butler County inmate housing program started last year because the sales tax increase that he and Pepper passed in May is now held up at least until November, when it will be on the general election ballot. The tax increase, initially a half-cent, would have kicked in Oct. 1 had opponents not successfully petitioned for a vote on it. All or Nothing Votes on Venues Leave Many Unhappy Back when I was a kid, my Dad used to have a lot of old-timer Cracker sayings. One of his was was when we'd be ready to go somewhere, he'd let loose with "Head up, tail over the dashboard, hip hip and away!". I learned later that this came from the horse drawn buckboard days. He had two old favorites concerning financial things: "You've got champagne tastes, but unfortunately, you only have a beer pocketbook". The second was: "There ...
