What happens if I tell the board to invest in youth development when my club already has top facilities and a youth academy. Also, when you tell the board to expand the stadium, will the board use all the club's funds for the new stadium or will some money still be set aside for the day to day running of the club.

To replace the missing cricket in schools our club has embarked on a youth development programme, starting at the bottom with Kwik Cricket. Now we need to take some of the kids on to the next level i.e using hard ball, pads, proper bats etc but we need the equipment. Does anyone have contacts where the equipment would be available, preferably free or discounted. Have been told that Lords Taverners may help. Any advice would help. Regards Ian

Celtic and Rangers have a mega fan base from all over the world but we are being stifled by playing in Scotland. I know we have had this before but we really need to be looking at playing in a higher standard of league and I mean the English premier. Celtic and Rangers would have no problem finishing in the top 6 and we would get a much better TV revenue and attract a better standard of player. I not sure about this North Atlantic league ( or what ever it's called) I just don't think this is wha ...

National Youth Development Information Center This journal explores the impact of the summer and when public support for children declines on young people. On average, students’ achievement test scores are about one month lower when they return to school in the fall than when they left in the spring, according to a research synthesis. This decline in knowledge, known as summer learning loss, is typically more pronounced for math than for reading. Contributors to this issue examine the research on potential risks youth face during the summer, such as regressing on measures ...

Welcome to Westside Health Authority:: Children Are Our Future A lot of the kids in WHA’s youth programs come from families with limited resources — financially and socially. We ‘re trying to give them some of the tools they need to believe in themselves and believe in the possibility of a better future.” -- Terrayne Ellis, Youth Coordinator One of the most vital needs in Austin is positive social and recreational resources for youth. WHA’s Youth programs provide safe, nurturing environments and a hopeful alternative for kids ages 6-19. The programs include tutoring, life skills training, ...
NPQ - Back Issues - Contents by Issue - Winter 2001 V8i4: Young For almost one hundred years, young people have been progressively isolated from community and organizational decision-making. It is not only young people who suffer from this phenomenon; communities and our larger social systems also suffer. A community--a nation--cannot achieve optimal health while discouraging a major segment of its membership. And when that segment is our future leadership, the need for us to consciously involve youth in everything we do becomes an imperative.
Youth infusion is a term that refers to the fundamental goal of integrating youth and young adults into all spheres of community life, ensuring that their voices and actions are valued and used in efforts aimed at social or community change. An institution is "infused" when youth are valued as effective partners and when structures are created at multiple levels to ensure that the voices of young people are represented in decision-making.

Editorials: Building community: Invest St. Paul Much-needed help is on the way to improve St. Paul's neediest neighborhoods. Taking a leap of faith, this week St. Paul City Council members voted 5-1 to approve $25 million in bonding authority for Mayor Chris Coleman's effort to spruce up several communities. Under his Invest St. Paul plan, some blighted properties will be demolished and replaced, and others will be rehabilitated. Homeowners will get help to avoid foreclosures, and family services will be reinforced. Here in the metro area, and in other cities across the nation, similar investments in blighted urban ...
Africa: A New Breed of Hero In September 2000, at the United Nations Millennium Summit, world leaders came together and agreed to a set of time-bound and measurable goals and targets for combating poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women. Now halfway through to the 2015 deadline for the MDGs, significant progress can be seen. But, according to a recent United Nations progress report, the overall success is still far from assured and will depend on whether developed nations abide by their promised aid commitments. Supporting children living in HIV/AIDS-affected communities in sub-Saharan ...

United Way Initiatives Create Real Impact AAI has received amazing support from individuals and corporations alike. In 2005, Harris Bank challenged the region to give at the Leadership level and committed to match 2-to-1 every gift of $1,000 or more to AAI. In 2006, ComEd stepped up to sponsor the Challenge Grant offering the same incentive and ensuring that the initiative did not lose momentum. As we enter the third year, BlueCross BlueShield has pick up the mantle to support this important community engagement work as the AAI Challenge Grant sponsor for Campaign 2007.
United Way and the Chicago Department of Public Health and many community partners focused their effort on home-based daycare providers because licensed daycare facilities require all kids to be immunized prior to school enrollment. These home providers were given the tools to monitor immunizations for the children in their care and educate parents about the importance of vaccinations. Due to the success in Austin, United Way is replicating the Immunization Initiative in Humboldt Park, where low immunization rates for pre-school age children are also prevalent. The Humboldt Park initiative is set to begin this ...

1 comments: Anonymous said... It is also important to note that the majority of illegal immigrants work with documents and therefore they and their employers pay taxes including social security. As reported in the New York Times (and many other places): "Taxes paid by undocumented immigrants go into the SSA’s “suspense file,” when the Social Security number does not match SSA’s records. In 2002, the suspense file grew by $56 billion in reported earnings, with about $7 billion in Social Security tax and $1.5 billion in Medicare tax paid. ...
