Improve query performance

(17 Messages)

Hi All, I need build the small tables extracting from the big tables called HISVALUE. Problem is the build up time is extremely slow as the insertion into the big tables will occur continuously. (That is Files loaded into table HISVALUE --> then table TEMP_SENSOR) Thus, I need to choose a build up time to those small tables, e.g. every 15 min that won't affect the original insertion. Question: 1. How can I improve the query performance? Any suggestion on how to replace 'NOT EXISTS' in the fol ...

I have the below script. Every year we change the date (dpdate) in it manually so it reflects the beginning of the current year. I just haven't been able to figure it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. select decode(pull_level,'G','UNWRAPPED','S','WRAPPED') x, ga_id, prov_company,sum(amount) gloss from std_invopt,event,acctg_txn_acty where acctg_txn_acty.ev_id = event.id and std_invopt.id = acctg_txn_acty.sdio_Id and trunc(dpdate) >= '01-JAN-04' GROUP BY decode(pull_level,'G', ...

Audit commission told to butt out of the NHS

(8 Messages)

The Audit Commission were unwise enough to point out that NHS waiting lists were being fiddled, and (implicitly) that ministers connived at these lies. Amidst the fanfare of trumpets with which Brown has announced the "independent" commission to inspect the NHS, the Audit Commission is being told that the NHS will in future be off limits. Or rather, that the "Commission for Healthcare Audit and Inspection", staffed by another bunch of Tony's mates, will now shoulder the respo ...

SpatialLiteracyorg crime auditSpatial-Literacy.org | crime | audit The crime and policing section of this site will review, promote and evaluate the use of spatial analysis in contemporary policing practices. The development and adoption of a range of geographical techniques used in other business sectors will be assessed, and their potential value in a policing context evaluated. This section will appraise the suitability of geodemographics in UK policing, specifically aligning the research methodology and outcomes with the political impetus to develop ‘Neighbourhood Policing’.

Recent developments under the Public Service Reform agenda in the United Kingdom have brought increasing focus upon public accountability and the needs of local communities. Similarly, crime, fear of crime and the efficacy of public service delivery have become central to the domestic political debate in recent years. This research, teaching and knowledge transfer resource will contribute towards the drive for robust performance assessment frameworks across different policing geographies and highlight some of the inconsistencies between the new localism agenda and current ...

Department for Constitutional Affairs Speeches speech to theDepartment for Constitutional Affairs - Speeches - speech to the I'd like to thank the Audit Commission for inviting me here today. Victims and witnesses are central to the Criminal Justice System. As is clear from this report there needs to be a new attitude towards victims and witnesses - the Government has accepted this but there is a long way to go. The Criminal Justice Ministers share the aim to improve confidence in the system, and that means victim and witness satisfaction.

For too long the needs of victims and witnesses have not been fully recognised or addressed. We want to increase the satisfaction and confidence of victims and witnesses: to ensure that they have the confidence to report and are treated with respect; to meet the range of their individual needs; and provide support and protection both within the criminal justice system and beyond, from report, during trial and following sentence. If victims and witnesses don't have confidence, then the crimes won't be reported and we won't get the right results. This brings the Criminal Justice System into disrepute.

Demand to Alberto Gonzales Seeks Relief for Marine and SoldierDemand to Alberto Gonzales Seeks Relief for Marine and Soldier Fully aware you'll do nothing unless the forcing function of public outrage increases pressure, my purpose here is as much to incite fury and rage as it is to demand arrests and prosecutions. I'm confident in my ability to inform my fellow citizens that military governors, contumacious commanders-generals, admirals, senators, and representatives-have with treachery and intent seized the power of the citizen jury. Attainment of Marine Sergeant Lawrence Hutchins, III and Army Ranger Staff Sergeant Raymond Girouard supplies oxygen to the tinder-dry imaginations of a weary populace that I-with fellow ...

Do not dismiss or diminish this criminal complaint as novitiate work product. Do not ignore this writing or regard it in diminution. The polemic is not a new one. It's a debate running the nation's entire history, aggressively complained about alike in literature and professional writings. Summary martial murder is Herman Melville's 19th century tale in the novella Billy Budd (based upon factual reports regarding the "Strange Affair of the Warship Somers") with additional examination of military discipline in a longer narrative, White Jacket. James Fenimore Cooper ...

ExChiquita director faces legal jeopardyEx-Chiquita director faces legal jeopardy Hills's lawyer, Reid Weingarten, and lawyers for four other individuals, including former Chiquita chief executive Cyrus Freidheim Jr. and former general counsel Robert Olson, submitted legal memos to federal prosecutors last month arguing why their clients shouldn't be charged with terrorism-related crimes. "That Rod Hills would find himself under investigation for a crime he himself reported is absurd," says Weingarten. Hills declined to comment.

Lawyers for Freidheim and Olson said their clients had acted properly in the circumstances. U.S. prosecutors took a dim view of Chiquita's dilemma and its delay in stopping the payments. "I regarded this as a murder investigation," from the start, says Roscoe Howard Jr., former U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., who helped lead the Chiquita prosecution before he left his position in 2004. "Even though Chiquita didn't murder anyone, that's what the money was used for - to buy weapons."

Fallen icon Rigas family members preparing to enter prison MondayFallen icon: Rigas family members preparing to enter prison Monday COUDERSPORT, Pa. - In less than 24 hours, John Rigas reports to a federal prison, and barring a successful appeal or doctor order, it could be the last time anyone sees him on free ground. However, the one-time cable giant with Adelphia Communications and owner of the Buffalo Sabres is not going in without a fight. Each day the past two weeks, Rigas has caught some of his grandchildren's baseball games and working at the farm, but mostly his time has been spent on conference calls with attorney's, looking up case law and checking e-mails with the hope ...

A quiet stock filing on March 27, 2002 had a footnote at the end of the earning release. It said there was an off-balance sheet debt of $2.3 billion. This was from a co-borrowing fund set up by Adelphia and the Rigas family. On July 24, 2002, the Rigas family faced charges of securities fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and bank fraud. Almost exactly two years later, a jury convicted Rigas and his son Timothy on criminal charges. The case against Michael Rigas was declared a mistrial on several counts. He was acquitted on others. Adelphia stock, which was at $87 ...

NRC Troubles Tracking Its Own GunsNRC Troubles Tracking Its Own Guns The NRC's Office of Public Affairs would not answer specific questions about the audit, but an agency spokesman issued this statement: "The OIG's audit discovered some record-keeping discrepancies between the official agency property records and the Office of Investigations' internal records regarding firearms issued to OI agents. In fact, OI's internal records were thorough and complete, and no firearms were unaccounted for. In the course of operations, new weapons were issued and agents relocated; such changes should have been noted in the official ...

OI Director Guy Caputo told MSNBC.com earlier this year that the "blanket deputation" was critical to the mission of his office, but his critics see no reason for it beyond the fact that it helped justify average annual salaries of $130,000 for OI agents. Caputo acknowledged that his agents had never made a single arrest, before or after they were authorized to carry guns. And when OI agents suspect a crime has been committed, they are supposed to refer the matter to the Justice Department, which then decides whether to pursue criminal charges.

quotIn Their Own Wordsquot 6th in a series by RFFMorg Sen Chris Lauzen"In Their Own Words" 6th in a series by RFFM.org -- Sen. Chris Lauzen To commemorate RFFM.org's 15 years of service to the conservative community, we will be conducting a series of monthly interviews throughout 2007 with some of the most influential leaders in the pro-family/conservative movement. RFFM.org's national director, Daniel Zanoza, will conduct Q + A sessions with the aim of educating our readers as to some of the views held by those who work tirelessly to reach their stated goals.

Q. You are currently celebrating 15 years as a member of the Illinois General Assembly. How do you feel your service has impacted the community? What kind of legacy do you think you have left behind for others to follow? A. These days I don't really feel that I'm "celebrating" 15 years of service, but I am still trying to do my best for my constituents and their families. Sixteen years ago, when I first ran for office, I promised three things. There were no promises of jobs for friends, cushy contacts for contributors, or even a road through anyone's town. Instead, I promised ...
