While a psychiatrist can diagnose ADHD, it may be better to seek a referral to a neuropsychologist, who can do proper testing. Keep in mind that both OCD and depression can result in concentration difficulties.
Any general practitioner can prescribe, but one should probably use a psychiatrist for stimulant prescriptions. This is just my opinion. I am neither a neuropsychologist nor a psychiatrist.
Some info (the first two links are probably the best): http://www.addiss.co.uk/ http://www.ddat.co.uk/ http://www.ets.org/disability/adhdplcy.html Also, you might want to try to contact the following individual (whose contact information is found on the WWW): Dr. Brian Toone Department of Psychological Medicine Kings College Hospital Denmark Hill LONDON SE5 9RS Tel: (0171) 346 3226 Best of luck to you.

Yep. While all of the following sites do not provide direct care services, they can point to you direct care providers: http://www.nwoserrc.k12.oh.us/ http://www.akrongeneral.org/psychiatry/psychiatry_add.asp http://www.ocecd.org/ http://www.familychild.org/fin/FIN.htm http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/svc/prog/special-needs/default.htm Out of date, but still provides an email address for current events (Marion County): http://www.chaddonline.org/chapters/chadd862.html also (although I think it might have moved to Pottstown, PA): Attention Deficit Disorder ***ociation (ADDA) P.O. Your GP can refer you to psychiatry. *However*, as far as I am aware, there are only two centres specifically dealing with ADHD in adults, in the UK .
That's not to say your local psychiatrist won't be helpful, but getting an adult diagnosis is like pulling hens teeth.
As for the meds, for my daughter, the psych gives me a note to take to the GP, the GP writes the actual prescription which I can take to the chemists.
