Though this may or may not be a possibility, i am becoming less certain about it, as i am NOT Christian (but i am willing to get whatever else i can out of the program). my insurance will only cover the NY Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in White Plains, NY. i was there once before in '98 and got about as much support as a broken bra strap. i am likely to end up withdrawing from school at the end of the semester (to save ...

Sentiments are for Denise, statistics for Balloon... Want to do something more positive than merely arguing the pros and cons of the death penalty? Mental health care in this country is a joke. Largely because of inadequate insurance coverage, people desparately needing care for treatable mental health problems ranging from depression to schizophrenia go untreated. Email your senators and urge them to support Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act, S. 543, co-sponsored by Domenici(R-NM) and Wells ...

Consumer-Directed Healthcare Will Create $40 Billion in New CHICAGO, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumer-directed healthcare plans don't have a reputation for being particularly consumer-friendly. In fact, the demand from consumers and employers for a better health/wealth experience -- from saving and paying for healthcare to making informed choices about treatment alternatives -- is creating $40 billion in new revenue opportunities for financial services firms and healthcare companies over the next five years, according to Diamond Management & Technology Consultants, Inc. (NASDAQ: DTPI) .
Guiding consumers to make the right choices about care and how to pay for it will create $6.2 billion worth of business opportunities over the next five years, Diamond predicts. In particular, consumers and employers are looking for help in four key areas: clinical decision support tools and financial planning tools; ways to compare costs, quality and treatment options; help in picking out the right health plan; and tools for forecasting and saving for health expenses before and after consumers retire.

AstraZeneca Q2 2007 Earnings Call Transcript Let me begin with strengthen the pipeline. The focus for this initiative clearly lies within our R&D organization. John Patterson; Jan Lundberg, who runs discovery; and their leadership teams, have been working within the organization to drive out complexity and create a drug discovery and development process that is faster and more flexible. This means challenging every stage of the R&D process to seek ways to produce results more quickly and reduce the time it takes to move from the initial selection of compounds to successfully bringing drugs to market.
Highlights of in-market progress with some key products in other areas include the successful launch of Symbicort in the U.S., where the initial stocking has amounted to more than $30 million of sales; the continued rollout of Symbicort SMART outside the U.S., where we are seeing wider use of the product; and the approval of Seroquel XR for schizophrenia in the U.S. And Seroquel has a number of other life cycle programs to come later this year and into next.

why is chronic pain so difficult to treat Preview : Traditional conceptualization and treatment of chronic pain based solely on biologic factors have proved inadequate for patients with complex pain conditions. Drs Weisberg and Clavel explain why and describe a more effective approach that also includes psychological, social, and cultural factors. A case report illustrates this multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment of complex chronic pain. Weisberg MB , Clavel AL Jr. Why is chronic pain so difficult to treat?: psychological considerations from simple to complex care. Postgrad Med 1999;106(6):141-64
E very clinician who treats patients with chronic musculoskeletal or nerve injuries, headache, or other chronic pain frequently faces difficult dilemmas. Treatment approaches are often unclear. Patient encounters may be time-consuming, frustrating, and emotionally draining. After repeated referrals for diagnostic tests, physical therapy, or specialty care, patients often return more depressed, hopeless, and demoralized than before. Yet, it may be difficult for the clinician to bring up the psychological aspects of a problem. Patients may react defensively, believing that the clinician thinks the distress ...
Class-Wide Behavior Management Interventions Dealing with disruptive behaviors is a challenging task for many educators. These behaviors often lead to chaos in the classroom and negatively affect social functioning. Disruptive classroom behavior has been shown to be associated with declines in educational performance, reduced academic learning time, and diminished performance on standardized tests. Moreover, children who demonstrate consistent patterns of disruptive behavior are at an increased risk for antisocial behavior.
The most common disruptive behaviors in the classroom setting include noncompliance, aggression, inattention, and off-task behavior, such as manipulating objects and doodling. Young children who exhibit disruptive behavior problems are likely to continue exhibiting those behaviors as they age. Although many interventions are effective in reducing disruptive behavior, most are designed for individual students. These individual programs are time-consuming for teachers, often require extra resources, and do not reward students who are behaving appropriately. Given the negative implications of disruptive classroom behavior, it is important ...

ATTACh has instituted a detailed membership registration, which is now required for qualified therapists who wish to be eligible for referral. Other highly informative websites that provide names of parent-recommended adoption and attachment therapists can also ...
Fees and Philosophies Parents should not be afraid to ask what a therapist charges per session and how they accept payment. How long is each session and is there some flexibility built into the session time (can you go overtime five or ten minutes for an appropriate closure)? Is the therapist available for consultation in between sessions by phone or email, and does she or he charge extra for these services? How can the therapist be reached in a crisis?
