No, because death does not exist. It is just an illusion. We think we must die one day because we believe we were born. In reality, we have always been, at least our consciousness. We are nothing else than that, all the rest is pure illusion. Our bodies, our egos, are only waves that continually go back and forth, creating a permanent swell on the ocean of our consciousness. We are free to identify ourselves with the waves if we wish to do so, and for the time we want to do so. But we should not ...

Great parents give up control Parents who answer yes to this question often fall into a trap. For instance, when supervising their homework by standing over their teens' shoulders and then helping to complete it, they are creating the false sense they have control over them for their own good. It truly is an illusion, because while your teen is conforming, two possible negative reactions are forming in their minds. First, teens will become resentful of their parents' control. Secondly, teens don't accept credit for the accomplishment. Even ...
The more accurate answer to parents' question of responsibility is, "No. You are responsible to them." By the time children enter adolescence, parents' role is to encourage, influence and monitor. At this stage in your adolescent's life, your influence is more effective than your ability to control. The sooner parents recognize this, the sooner they more positively influence their teen.
Parents' Depression Can Weigh On Children Tending to the needs of distressed parents could be one of the best ways to help children, Janicke said. Having supportive parents is vital for children to be able to make the lifestyle changes needed to lose weight. Often, children only have access to food at home, so what a parent puts on the table usually determines what the child eats, Janicke said. Also, the behaviors a parent models affect the lifestyle choices a child makes, too.
More than 33 percent of children and adolescents in the United States are overweight or obese, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. Prior studies conducted elsewhere have shown that overweight children have a poorer quality of life than normal-weight peers. UF's study is one of the first to examine how factors such as parent distress, depression and bullying affect a child's well-being, giving researchers a better understanding of how to help overweight children.
End taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood Note: All views and opinions expressed in reader comments are solely those of the individual submitting the comment, and not those of the Pantagraph or its staff. Max Ernst wrote on Aug 21, 2007 11:20 AM: " Yes. Let's defund Planned Parenthood, because you don't like a procedure that generates less than 10% of their business. Let's stop them from spreading the "perverted ideology" that all people should have access to reproductive health care so that they can make informed fact based responsible choices about when and whether ...

We examined the PR and marketing push for Gardasil that began even before FDA approval, and two non-profit organizations that helped Merck exploit their current corner on the HPV vaccine market.
Dear Families, Over thirty high school students w Dear Families, Over thirty high school students will be walking in the annual AIDS walk this Sunday to raise money for education and research. As they gear up for this fun-filled, challenging, and important event, they remind me of my own HIV/AIDS education. I think it actually started in middle school, when I first heard of Ryan White, who became the face of AIDS in the mid-80s. I remember being so impressed with him because he was able to befriend my idols, Elton John and Michael Jackson. I did not quite understand what AIDS was, even ...
Religious leaders speak out on adolescent sexuality According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention more than sixty percent of adolescents engage in sexual intercourse before they leave high school. About 800,000 teenagers become pregnant in the U.S. each year, and more than one in four sexually involved teens will get a sexually transmitted disease. The United States has provided over a billion dollars for abstinence-only-until-marriage programs in the last decade and no funding for comprehensive sexuality education.
