Fremont, California. (Judging by the area code) I don't know anyone who is willing to just rent equipment from some spammer in usenet. Should atleast have a web site with pictures so the renter can see what they are getting, who they are getting it from and feel more secure.

The website is a given---see the email address, stockfilm.com Although it does sound like a desperate measure and a whacky way of renting gear.
lacine ...@hotmail.com (A. Film Guy)
Actually, it sounds very desperate.
I know I've heard of this guy before, and seen the website, but his website STOCKFILM.COM, is inoperable, and the sysadmin's post makes one wonder if perhaps the owner of this gear and website cannot pay his bills.
Pure speculation, but all this gear may be on ebay within a week.
There's not too much call for film gear in the Bay Area in December, and what is goes out of the real rental houses across the Bay from Fremont. The bay has several really good owner/operator DP's, too, as well as grip trucks, etc., so a small rental operation would be hard pressed to survive Having shot in the Bay Area even recently, I can tell you that for it's population, it's a very small film/video market, and what work there is is extremely "inside" and inter-connected.
When they want a deal, they call L.A. ( like many places, an equipped DP from L.A.who wants to can travel to the location and shoot the film far cheaper than any local can shoot it. This fact of life applies only to non-IA crew and projects, obviously).

His email address was given. His Web Site address was never directly given. If anything, indirectly but surely not the way to go to make business.
Anywho, What successful company needs to result to posting in a newsgroup to get clients.
