Hey Cathy; if you haven't hiked the Matt Davis Trail, you're in for a treat. It's one of the more beautiful ones. It starts directly across the road from Pantoll, goes through a canyon filled with Douglas Fir and Calypso Orchids and a couple of small waterfalls. After about a mile, it opens up, and parallels Ridgecrest Road, before dropping down to Stinson Beach.
The 1500 foot change in elevation doesn't make it a stroll in the park, but with a return up the Steep Ravine Trail, it's all pretty mind-blowing and spectacular. It has it all...redwoods, the beach, incredible views, waterfalls.
It's maybe 7-8 miles, an ***-kicker, but well worth it. I did the loop just a few weeks ago, and it was heaven. Lots of wildflowers, too.
