(7 Messages)

Wonder if anyone can help me here. My husband and I went to see a therapist, whom we both thought they specialize in ONLY marital counselling. But, she said she did both individual and marital counselling. How do I ensure some level of experitise in marital counselling from a therapist? thanks in advance!

Counseling

(25 Messages)

My husband and I are having marital problems and I suggested counseling. He refuses to go to counseling to work on our marriage. What is worse, when I asked about going to some therapy or counseling on my own, he didn't want me to do that either. Any suggestions? MissKitten

Feeling Miserable

(9 Messages)

for the last month or so, i've just been feeling utterly, utterly miserable in our marriage. i can't even watch any movies or read any books where the characters are in love, because i just start to cry. i try to remember feeling in love with my wife, but i can never remember any time that i ever felt that way. we got married in march. the primary motivator was that she had gotten pregnant in october, and *needed* to get married. she's from russia, and was brought up traditionally -- she went so ...

one is in love other is not

(25 Messages)

Another weekend apart, another late night honesty session, another night in separate beds (makes about 2 weeks of psuedo-separation). She says she hasn't loved me (other than a general love for other life forms) for years. She admits that it will be hell either way, together or apart. She is dreading the holidays, the faking it. She says I deserve something better. She has tapered off emotionally and physically to nothing except she'll put her arm around me if I am crying. My love for her is thi ...

Today39s editorial Down and out in Indy We need more than crackdownToday's editorial Down and out in Indy: We need more than crackdown Panhandlers looking to subsidize their alcoholism and loiterers don't make up the majority of the homeless population. Twenty-six percent of the population are families, mostly women with children fleeing from abusive homes. Schizophrenics and others wrangling with severe mental illness are also interspersed among the population, as are veterans and teens who have aged out of the foster care system.

Community mental care, which was promoted more than three decades ago as an alternative to large-scale mental hospitals, remains a concept that was never adequately funded. Community clinics receive less than 40 percent of targeted funding despite serving 92 percent of the mentally ill population. As a result, mentally ill patients who would otherwise receive treatment end up on the streets and in jail.

Health News in BriefHealth News in Brief A mysterious epidemic of thyroid disease in pet cats in the United States may be caused by dust from fire-retardant chemicals used in carpets, furniture, mattresses, electronic products and even pet food, researchers report. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism in cats include weight loss, increased appetite, hair loss and irritability. Hyperthyroid cats could serve as modern-day versions of the canaries in coal mines that alerted miners to poisonous gas, said Birnbaum, who added that hyperthyroidism is treatable in cats as well as people. Feline hyperthyroidism is one of the most common ...

The most immediate impact from IR should be the re-invigorated eLearning Team operation supporting UTD's course management system, WebCT. WebCT's history over the past year or so has been on the hairy edge of marginal and we have allocated substantial resources toward improving this service. The collaboration between IR and departmental resources focused on course management and distance learning has really blossomed and we are anxious for this service to excel as a critical student engagement.

How to Start a Consulting BusinessHow to Start a Consulting Business The dictionary defines a consultant as "an expert in a particular field who works as an advisor either to a company or to another individual." Sounds pretty vague, doesn't it? But unless you've been in a coma for the past decade, you probably have a good idea what a consultant is. Businesses certainly understand what consultants are. In 1997 U.S. businesses spent just over $12 billion on consulting. According to Anna Flowers, spokesperson for the Association of Professional Consultants in Irvine, California, the association has recently noticed an increase in calls for information from people who want ...

Residential Alcohol Drug Rehab Aftercare Continuing CareResidential Alcohol Drug Rehab: Aftercare (Continuing Care So many rehabs advertise that they have an aftercare program, yet very few describe it, and usually in vague terms if at all. Why is that? It would seem that if they do have an aftercare program (instead of just an obligatory notion of one), it would be simple to describe their process in writing on their website. Surely it is not proprietary, and if they are proud of it, they have no other reason to keep the details of it hidden. Some talk of relapse prevention, others talk of ongoing support; but what does that mean, how will it ‘look’ ...

My Mission Anonymous advocate... I feel for the hapless consumer mired in a troubled industry. Especially when lives, family, health, sanity, finances, and careers are at stake. The residential alcohol and drug industry has some excellent examples of caring and effective programs. My goal is to help consumers find such programs and avoid those that are inept if not downright dangerous. I am an industry insider with many years of multi-perspective experience. To remain unbiased, I do not accept any compensation from any rehab under any circumstance. Ultimately, I would like to create better ...
