{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Harv}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Awwwww, Harv, I am sorry to hear things continue to be so rough for you!
I certainly understand your fears and your frustration.   These darn diseases seem to do that to all of us at one time or another!   I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hoping with all my heart that the remicade will work wonders for you, that you will not have any reactions, and most of all, that you will be able to bring your RA under much better control!!!
I think we all never really adjust 100% to these diseases and I don't imagine our spouses/families every fully adjust either.
Wear you sling if you need to Harv and just use the free arm to give your wife a big hug and to re***ure her.  You are an amazing friend Harv and I have the utmost faith that God has some great plans in store for you yet!!!
Hang in there and know that you are loved and appreciated!!!

{{{{{HARV}}}}} I know you are going to do fine with this Harv. You've thought it thru so well and planned it much better than most of us could. That's gotta help.
But I also know how hard it is to enter into the unknown.  Hang in there.....you will do fine and we are all here for you, as you have been for us.

Best of luck to you Harv. Be comfortable knowing you are doing the best you can. It is all that any of us can do. Hope this all works out with the best possible results.

((((((((((((harv))))))))))))  change is often scary.  canadian tribal peoples, i forget which tribe, have a saying, "it is good to cry when change happens.  with tears you flow and then you join the changing river." harv, dear and sweet man that you are, allow your wife to have her tears.
don't try to protect her from them.  she needs them and needs to let them fall.  and you need your sling.  give her a hug and a re***uring smile and know that those tears of hers are as much for her sake, as they are for yours.  tears are a healing thing.
will be keeping you in my prayers and healing thoughts during your remicade journey.  may remicade be even better for you than enbrel has been.

Hi all,,,    I thought I would share my thoughts with you as things change in my life that I have no control over.   I have to admit that I am a little scared by the fact that I just took my last Enbrel shot.  I must go through next week without any dmard (except for 10mg of Methx).  Enbrel must be out of my system after almost 3 good years with times where I could do most things with very little pain or swelling except for joints like my shoulders and right knee where the RA damage has gone too far for the joint to function without pain.
I start Remicade the week after and I started Methx in Dec.   I have no doubt about the power of Remicade over my RA after reading what it has meant to many in this newsgroup.   I do have fears of my having a reaction to it.
I am going to take Allergra the night before the transfusion and the morning of it much the same as some people take Benedryl.   I am not worried about the actual taking of the transfusion because I have p***ed by the recliner room many times with all the people reading books or watching tv or with a blanket over them sound asleep.   I know there are two RNs that watch over the people in that room taking notes on how people feel and how the transfusion went for everyone.
I guess we all are a little afraid of change but I really feel that I have done the best I can to make this change in insurance,,, Soc.Sec.,,, secondary insurance,,, actual cost in money to the wife and I.  I am going to have to relax and let things happen knowing I have done the best I could to deal everything that is involved with having RA and all that goes with it.   I am typing all this with one hand due to the leftovers of my latest flare.  Can't use my left wrist or shoulder.  I would use a sling but it makes my wife tear up when she sees me using it.   Dam, dam, dam,  after all these years you would think she be used to all this.    But then,,,, am I??
Thanks for listening.
Harv

Hi Harv, You have been unspam blocked for any future emails. I do check the folder everyday for those who have yet to be added to my address book and add them as I find them. This is what allows them access. It has worked very, very well in blocking tons of virused and unwanted email.

harv, i really understand how you feel. i think, though, that you'll be very happy with the remicade once you're used to the process. i've seen a couple of people in the infusion center have reactions, and the nurses handle them very well--usually giving more benadryl and slowing the drip for a bit and the patients continue getting their drug. it's encouraging. let us know how you do .

Harv, I think becauseyou had those good years the bad ones hurt even worse.  Do hope the Remicade will work and you will not have any side effects from it. Will keep you in prayer.

(((Harv))) one of my favorite quotes: "When the day is over and you have done your best wait the results in peace." I use it along with the Serenity prayer...sometimes several times a day, but I have to let go and let God...

Harv...Does this mean what I think  it means?!  Fear of the unknown is a very human trait; we all have it for one reason or another.  Keep truckin' and the prayer path and healing vibs are flying your way.  If I remember correctly, when I posted about beginning the mtrx inj, you told me not to be afraid of the meds, but be afraid of the RA.  Good advise......hugs   Mic Always, be, and stay AWARE!

{{{Harv}}} sorry to hear things aren't going well for you. Do we ever get used to this disease? Just when we get "comfortable" with it, a curveball heads right at our noggins. I hope the Remicade works. As for me I start Humira this week, lets keep our crooked fingers crossed these are our new miracles.
Kate    Send in the clowns I will not drag you along; I will not leave you alone; I will stand by you and have my hand there for you to hold when you need it.

RoseB Imarosa...@shaw.ca

A couple of thoughts Harve: 1) are you able to take benedryl? It is typical for them to give benedryl and tylenol as premeds before you get an infusion. I still get it, although most don't. If you let them administer your pre-meds they will give you an appropriate dose,.
2) You are a lucky man to have a spouse that loves you enoough after all those yeays enough to tear up at the sight of you in pain.
I hope the remicade gives you super relief. You may find you like it better, not having to self inject twice a week.

Harv, We're never ever ready for change, I don't think.  And no, you shouldn't be used to this, any more than I want to get used to it.  Please use the sling.
Your wife would rather you use it than hurt so you don't upset her. She's upset because you are hurting, not because of the sling.  Be glad you've got her for support.  My prayers are that the Remicade will work well.

It is a good drug too Harv. Wish you didn't have to change but you knew the time was coming to make the move and you stepped to the plate. I am proud of you -- you give me courage to face that unknown. Thanks for being you.
My RD is now giving 25mg of Benedryl before along with two Tylenol. I have never had a problem but some people do have allergic reactions to it and others get some sort of headache hence the two T's. I used to read but now I just sleep mostly [Benedryl induced]. The infusion room I go to is in a hospital and they let everyone order a meal. Lunch or breakfast depending on the time of day. I always feel sneakily guilty getting the free food. Used to bring a muffin -- now I let them pay for it.
Nothing like those little perks.  Here is hoping you will have good response from the Remicade and not notice the change from one to the other.
Duckie
