Hello everyone, I have a little kid (9 months old) and his mother and I (the father) are looking to get him into a child day care center. We live in Mexico City, and most of the people I consulted gave me a "standard" list of child care centers near my area, but beyond opinions and beliefs I would like to have a "checklist" of things to look for in a day care center. The baby won't be staying longer than 5 hours a day, and probably not more than 2-3 days a week (at least whil ...

At only 9 weeks, the advice from others is abundant. However, one thing I did learn that will probably save me later, is to research day cares now. Living in a middle size town, the good day cares have very long waiting list. Especially when it comes to newborns. Also, the private schools have equally long waiting list. Even though I grew up in public schools, I want the option available to me when the time comes so I've decided to pay a whopping $10 to put my childs name on the waiting list for ...

Hi everyone, While I'm only 19w2d right now, I've already started the day care search. I will take 8 weeks off of work after the babies arrive. After that DH and I may be able to flex our time (we both have wonderfully flexible schedules!), and along with help from friends and relatives, we may be able to keep the little bubs home for a couple more weeks. But between 10-12 weeks after they are born we are going to use a child care facility. DH and I went back and forth about using someone who ta ...

Neighbors' interest, state law conflict on group home Aparicio, 27, wants to operate a six-bed home for boys ages 13 to 17. It would be what's called a Level 12 home, a type that requires among the highest levels of care and commands among the highest state payments, $5,613 per child per month. Often the residents have mental health, behavioral and substance abuse problems, said county Supervising Deputy Probation Officer Theresa Hart.

Frustrated foster parents giving up Beyond those everyday concerns, the caretakers say, a sense of powerlessness pervades their work. Their families' privacy is invaded, record-keeping is burdensome, training classes offer little practical advice, and experienced foster parents have to endure finger-wagging lectures from young state workers, many of whom have never cared for children themselves.
This year, more than 500 youngsters – mostly teens who have churned through 10 or more foster homes – have spent nights in CPS offices, with caseworkers watching them. CPS says it's slowly getting a handle on the problem, but judges who oversee the removal of children from their birth families say that as an added complication, foster youths are still being shipped too far from their home communities, creating hardships for them, relatives and advocates.
Care for girls becomes foster parents' only job The program is part of a growing trend to create separate programs for boys and girls not only in education - where single-sex schools are on the rise - but in juvenile justice and foster care, too. It's also an attempt to deal with a thorny problem for Children's Court judges: what to do with a girl who runs away again and again - endangering her own safety - but cannot be locked up because she has committed no crime.
Children who have not been charged with a crime can be held in the county detention facility for only 48 hours. But by the end of 2005, judges were detaining more and more youth beyond the 48-hour limit - many of them teen girls who kept running away. In 2006, Milwaukee County judges held about 200 non-criminal boys and girls in detention beyond the legal limit, jeopardizing federal funding for youth crime prevention programs.

A Girl for Ryan - 27 & 28 Rating: Tame Beta: None. Mistakes are all mine. Disclaimer: I don't own The OC, Ryan or Benjamin McKenzie. (Unfortunately.) Story: AU. In this story, everything up to episode 3.03 - The End of Innoncence is exactly the same as the show. That's where Julie finds out that Caleb left her with nothing and Jimmy takes off after being beaten up. We pick up 7 years later and hopefully during the first few chapters, the story will tell you what has happened to our main characters in the ensuing period. 27 - The meeting After they had disembarked in San Francisco they found their ...
Sarah *smiles* Fancy sneeking ahead? I guess that's a compliment. But I am actually taking the time to edit each chapter so they should be a little different but obviously the storyline will remain the same. But hopefully it will be a little better this time around. I guess that's why I just need to know that someone is still reading otherwise I'm just wasting my time. As I mentioned as long as I know that someone's still oout there then I guess that I'll keep plugging along. Thanks for your support.
I don't have a catchy title for this. I feel like there is much to say, but I just got back from a run and feel like I need to stretch, so I am going to make it fast... 1) My iPod rocks my face off. It has done more for me then I thought. I have gone running everyday for the past 4 days and can feel the goodness. The PAIN goodness! I am so soar! I think the last time that I went running was when I was living on Ward Parkway in KS. That is like 2 years ago! gosh. It feels good to run. 2) I started at work full time. I have been a full timer ...
Yay for running and iPods! I love mine as well. Really great to have a mobile music companion, isn't it? About child care: I went and saw Michael Moore's new film, "Sicko" the other day, and it was fantastic. Along with a slew of horror stories about healthcare in the US, the film showcases how other nations deal with socialized medical programs. It was amazing!! Did you know that in France the government actually sends new mothers a person to do their laundry, their dishes, clean their house, take care of the baby, and teach them ...
