http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/147571p-130252c.html There is a perception that the next Giants coach needs to be a strict disciplinarian, because discipline is something Jim F***el's Giants lack.
That perception, Giants defensive coordinator Johnnie Lynn said yesterday, is "a flat-out lie." "This team doesn't lack any kind of discipline, it lacks wins," Lynn said. "It doesn't lack any kind of thing here or there, it lacks wins on the left-hand column. It doesn't say, 'Hey, we weren't disciplined enough.' That's malarkey." Lynn, one of three ***istants who have been with F***el for all seven of his seasons, said the Giants' 4-10 record, their 115 penalties (third-highest in the league) and their many mental mistakes have had more to do with injuries. The roster was thin from the beginning, and the Giants were quickly forced to patch in players who may not have been ready.
"Just because you play professional football," Lynn said, "doesn't mean you're a pro." The easygoing Lynn, who turned 47 yesterday, said even if he had changed his coaching style it might not have helped a defense that ranks 23rd in the league.
"If you're saying, 'Okay I can be a strong disciplinarian and we're not going to make mistakes,' you're fooling yourself," Lynn said.
"We're people. People make mistakes.
"I'm saying people are people. If you expect somebody to be perfect, that's not going to happen. It's not a perfect world. People say this team is undisciplined, I have to beg to differ. That's my opinion."

That nitwit is one of the primary reasons we need a shake up.
His opinion is worth all the respect I'm going to give it.

exactly right! the giants don't need discipline? hmm, i guess all those insane, senseless, stupid penalties and turnovers they've had all season long is Lynn's view of good discipline.

[top-post corrected] The Giants need discipline and a real defensive coordinator.

And no one has mentioned being out of position in zone defenses. That, too, shows a lack of discipline. Of course that does not excuse Johnnie Lynn's lame defensive schemes.

F***el will get head coaching job again but I find it very hard to think of anyone who'll give Lynn a defensive coordinator's job again. Giving Lynn that position was probably the stupidest move F***el made in his 7 years as Giant coach.
EGK m...@privacy.net
That's a good point about Lynn. The Giants have had a rep as a defense oriented team for years. They've really gone backwards under Lynn. Anyone watching the Giants this year could tell they lacked dicipline and that's on the coaching staff. F***el has to be the one responsible for who he hired and didn't fire when they weren't doing the job.

What are you talking about, Lynn will probably go with F***ell (soundling like Arizona).
