Parents must prove to their kids that they love and favor them in order for their kids to love and favor their parents. Some parents are horribly unloving and unfavorable to their kids. So, it's no wonder to me why their children are so unloving in return- failures.
What's crap is this additude that children are nobodies business but the parents. WRONG! Children are not pets or possessions. They are societies future and, as such, the family unit is everyone's business.
If I had it my way (the right way), I would MANDATE that all baby girls be tied soon after birth to protect them from unwanted pregnancies and to require them to seek clinical ***istance to get pregnant later on.
That would enable the state to coordinate the natality rate with economic expectations, job growth, housing and the availability of essential resources. They could impose requirements on couples- a psychological evaluation, a minimum marriage period for social compatibility, completion of cl***es on parenting and pediatric medicine so they arn't incompetent, criminal background checks and screening for genetic disease.
If approved for parenthood, they could be ***igned a family planing social worker who would act as a liaison between the state and the family. They would communicate information to the state on behalf of the family as well as to the family on behalf of the state to make sure that the state is taking care of the family and that the parents are taking care of their kids.

It's less dangerous and invasive to give men vasectomies until approved for breeding.
Therefore, why not present yourself at the nearest vasectomy clinic?
Come back when you're done and we'll consider you for breeding permission by committee.
You should remember that the social consequences apply. If we don't think you're good enough, you can just keep your tubes tied.
Thanks!

I can't say I'm surprised. I've never known anyone handing out this sort of thing who wasn't working from a "my parents should never have been allowed to have kids" perspective.
You don't need to be ranting around Usenet, Lawrence; you need to be getting therapy. No question about it, unloving parents do exist (hell, outright evil parents exist) and they're one of the worst things that can happen to a kid. But it is possible to overcome that.
Maybe they didn't love you; maybe they broke you. Maybe you don't ever have to forgive them for it. Some people frankly don't deserve forgiveness. But you do have to stop demanding that they fix what they broke. That is just plain not in their power. The only person who can make your life better, deep down, is you. Other people can help, but you have to do the heavy lifting.
It's worth it.

I see these types of proposals all the time, and they're all non-starters, not to mention being downright creepy. What do you do to people who have babies without the proper permissions?
It's an approach that's been around for a long time, however.
Controlling the reproduction of others is a straighforward power play with a long tradition. Of course it used to be carried out by slaughter.

If you don't realize what is wrong with your post then I don't have any other advice except for get an education. Disqualifying someone for being the possible carrier of a genetic disease? Which ones? And to what level? Who decides? You are basically advocating the building of a super race of all races which is akin to what the Nazi's wanted to do. You have also decided that your way is the right way without seeking further input. And forcing females to have their tubes tied?
Do you understand the procedure? If you do understand it and still suggest it then you truly are mentally disturbed. No one should have that forced upon them because that would be a human rights violation.
Why not vasectomies for all male babies? It's a simple procedure and reversible unlike your female version. Ah, that's it, you're a male.
Go figure. Either way it is unthinkable.
If you are that uneducated then you also must have been abused the combination of which made it possible for you to form those sick thoughts. Seek therapy and go back to school.

No one in their right mind would advocate slaughter. But we are over-
populating and consuming the world to death and nobody has a plan for the long term prospects of humanity in a world of depleated resources and ecological plunder. Are we supposed to just neel down and pray for the second comming?

Who cares what you would do if your were our totalitarian dictator.
Doesn't look like there is much chance of that happening.
Sure, totalitarianism is fun isn't it, as long as you are the dictator right?
Eugenics, awesome. Lets get rid of those undesirables, who needs 'em eh?
Because social workers are doing such a good job these days right?
All the business but none of the responsibility. Are these kapos, er i mean 'liasons' also going to be held responsible when something goes wrong? of course not.
Why not just make the parents the social workers? That would free up the people who could be social workers to do other things important to this new state, like making barbed wire and searchlights.

Whats more dangerous?
Badly raised, violent children, a badly trained aircraft pilot or a gun?
Why does society take responsibility for ensuring gun control and pilots licenses yet shows little concern towards badly raised children?
Why is the thought of pre-parental formal education so distasteful by todays society?
Im my mind parenting is THE most important job in society. Too often we become fully educated parents after the kids have already left home. Bit late by then dont you think? As a side effect however youll note grandparents are therefor the best babysitters.

That's way out of line man! I'm not talking about breading people.
I'm disturbed? So I guess you think circumcisions are just like hair cut's.
I didn't pick tuble ligation as the prefered methode of prevention out of some disregaurd for women- quite the opposite. Consider that I'm talking about a manditory procedure- one that must effect all members of one sex or the other. It is well documented that vasectomies are not as effective as tubal ligations and, the fact that it is so easily reversible makes it easier for men to "cheat" the system by secretly getting reversed. Pregnancy is a major madical condition and is entirely a womens health issue, so it only makes sense to me that the best solution is the female opperation.
Also, thinking is what seperates us from animals.
You think I'm just some sicko, huh? Maybe, instead of villifying me all over the place, you should take a look at current world population trends. All countries depend on natural resources to feed people and power their economies. We are all exploiting those resources faster every year. We can expect to see the depleation of nonrenuable resources in less than a hundred years and very likely within our lifetimes.
Oil prices will prabably exceed the price of gold. Power plants will shut down. Factories will close. Communication systems will go offline. Gas pumps will close. Poeple will face rampent poverty and starvation as they loose their jobs and farms turn to dust. Militery and law enforcement will try to hord every last drop in the country but eventualy they'll run out to. Then they'll be unable to hold back the crime waves that will follow as people resort to fighting over what's left. The world could collaps into another dark age. If you think I'm exagerating or just plain nuts, then don't worry about it.
Everything will just work out for the better- I'm sure.

Thanks for the advice but I'm not ranting and I'm not just talking about bad family situations. I'm addressing a number of serious problems that nobody has any solutions for- population control, minimum parenting standards, disease prevention, economic longjevity and environmental protection- all of which are interrelated. How much longer do you think it will take before we consume the world to death- 50, 100 years?
