I'm leaving this sunday for a halfway house. I spent 34 day's in rehab, i've been out to long. I know that I need the extra time to learn how to live sober. I'll have 60 day's tomarrow, that's good for me. My anxiety has been really high, and I know it's because I'm leaving. has anyone here done this. I really don't know what to expect.

Hello Anne,as far as I know halfway-houses are there to teach you how to cope in society again being sober.
There will be more responsability in order to learn how to live by a set of rules when you are out on your own.
Of course your anxiety is up,we don't like changes.
But I think you will do fine once you get there :-) Be proud !

Hi, Anne, I wish you much success with the halfway house. I don't know much abut them but glad you will be someplace with structure and that reinforces sobriety...

I have never been to a halfway house, but I do know how it feels to have your first 60 days of sobriety after over 20 years of self medicating with alcohol. Everything you do is extra scary, because you have never done it before. If you have done it before, it's not the same because now you are straight. Be sure to talk to your Pdoc about the extra anxiety. Be strong! Follow the program! You can do it!

{{{{{{{Anne}}}}}}} I wish I could give you some advice, but I can't. I think it's great that you've been sober for 60 days. Must've been so very hard for you. I can understand why your anxiety is up. My anxiety is up whenever I leave the house and I didn't go through rehab. Please take care of yourself and let us know when you get back. It's good that you're doing this, IMHO.
