ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, that would be fun.  We could take up a whole wing of a hotel.
Trade off teaching and learning in a round robin all weekend long....
sigh.....

Absolutely.  Kind of like the Martial Arts Retreat we had.  A three day week-end, instruction donated, simple tents and cabins and healthy food.
Wide, wide ***ortment of cl***es -- from archery to Feng Shui and Reiki, and Shotakan to African Dance.  Of course, with beads there  would be different requirements.
Actually the Holland camp would be close.
It could be for all levels.  Stringing Indian lampwork to stringing lampwork and Bali.  From found material beads to making beads.
You think there would be something like that in an area the size of Berkeley et al.

I've done that.  It was heavenly.  It wasn't bead-related, but it's the same thing.......We took over a motel with all our sled dogs, and we went dogsledding during the day.  At night, we all had adjoining rooms (as much as possible, architecturally), and the dogs (who knew each other) all played under and on top of the beds, racing through the kitchens (which adjoined the rooms), etc.
It was  A  B L A S T .  An entire weekend!  It's *totally* possible.
There're various bead retreats all over the USA.....one coming up in the wine country (Napa!) real soon, in fact.

The only down side to an intensive week-end like that can give you so much info in such a short time that it just overflows and spills from your brain.
I did a three day 35 hour self defense course (usually taught in a week), and by the third day, I just couldn't hold onto any more brain activity and sank into sleep.
What would appeal to me more would be something like a "bead camp" I heard about in Northern CA (North of Redding).  I think Annie B mentioned it.  It was a week-long camping trip.  Bring the men and kids, but uninvolved people stick on the side lines and cook or something.  Learn a stitch and then spend some time with it.  Very casual and stress free.

That was a fun time to be sure...Bead n Camp 1998. We stayed at the Dean Creek Resort which is just outside of Garberville on 101. Campsites, RV sites and a nice motel as well. I learned Spiral Stitch from Beki that weekend, brought Barbara Elbe along as my travel companion, and Tina, it was wonderful and stress free, for certain.
I'd love to do that again.

I was looking at a week-long retreat in North Carolina just today. Here's the link to the site: http://www.folkschool.com/ I see that there is a bead section there as well as lots of other interesting subjects. I'm hoping to go next year when a crazy quilt teacher I know will be giving a week long cl***. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure I can afford to get there!

Someday...
I have access to my dad's 12.5 acres of Willamette Valley farmland with a 3-bedroom house on it, and my dream is to A. plant a vineyard on it (I have 120 vines starting right now) and B. start the Bead & Breakfast, a retreat where people can come spend a couple of weeks attending beadmaking cl***es, eating wonderful fresh foods, and relaxing in the country.

And I've promised myself a week (or two if I can manage it) at Wm Holland early next year, one way or another! I've told family and friends that I am doing this for me and they'll have to manage without their peacemaker, negotiator and Dear Abby!  <grin>

You forgot to mention one of "B's" attractions.  That's you.  The beadmaking, food and country relaxation sounds good, but your energy is so lovely and just puts it over the top.
