Intervention and Treatment - Teen Depression - mood disorders Some adolescents will need antidepressant medication to help them through a major depression. The most commonly used antidepressants are SSRIs or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is important that some form of psychotherapy be used in conjunction with any medications.
