I know its old hat to the FV elite, and its useless to the rest of you.
But on FV, very few things are no drop; this includes just about everything you can purchase from the Adventure Mercants at LDoN camps.
LDoN comes in 5 mission types, and while you accumulate points for any type, you also raise your spending limit in the mission type you just succeded on by the same amount.
This means that if you spread around your LDoN mission types, you can easily accumulate up to 5 times as many points as you have spending limit in any given type.
OR you can concentrate; do only a single type of mission, in which case your spending limit and points are the same till you actually spend points.
Well, I'm not that kind of player, I like variety, I like to support my friends whereever they want to go, and I'm open to group offers from just about anyone (the just about part being my ignore list full of "never group with him again" people. Its a short list) BUT I've been advised that a certain item in the Takish LDoN dungeon is very worth getting, even if I expect to soon reach 65 and perhaps start getting access to some pretty decent gear.
It costs 760 points. I have 768 points unspent. BUT I have a spending limit of 314 points in Takish.
Enter the workaround. I have an old friend (from when I was 30!) who it turns out has a 1224 limit in takish. SO, I go to BB, pick up two non lore augments costing me 340 points each (each my spending limit, or close to it), then to NRo where I get a 40 point one, whereupon I'm stuck, can't find one thats only 20 points and non lore. But there's one in SRo which my friend doesn't already have which costs 20 points.
So I get that one too.
Give all the augments to my friend, who turns them in to a guy in SRo who gives him "back" their value in LDoN points.
We Magus to NRo, he gets my item from the adventure merchant, hands it over to me, and I'm one happy mage!
Diamond Prism of Companionship, no more summoning armor for my pets, pets will be one level higher, apparantly works on pets up to and including the level 65 one should I ever get it.
With this workaround available, I can continue my wayward ways of doing whatever LDoN I like, all points being more or less the same, or for that matter I can blow off LDoN and do whatever I like for exp, since I already have the main LDoN Item I wanted (not that getting some FT items wouldn't be appreciated) Splendid One, 63 Gnomage in the sky with diamonds, Firiona Vie

Yeah, the gnome at the SRo Adventure camp provides this refund service and it's the basis upon which people have been selling their Adventure points.
Purchase any non-lore augment from any shop and then sell them to an AP buyer for the going price of 70-80p per AP. The buyer then returns the augments to the gnomes to complete the transaction. Was a pretty common activity on FV when I left a few months ago.

I'd heard of that, and its a similar idea; people who have high enough limits to buy what they want at a camp, but have already spent the points they earned there on something else, using plat (or keying to POP zones) to buy adventure points.
This was the reverse, I had the points but not the spending limit.
While what I wanted was at Takish, I wonder how much more difficult it would have been to find someone with a 760+ limit at Deepest Guk (I currently have a 22 point limit there, and I've always gone whereever people wanted to go, so I'm guessing few people want to go to Deepest Guk!) Splendid

I sold 400 points in one shot for 7k each 100; well worth it, since there wasn't anything on the LDoN merchants I wanted, but definitley was in the bazaar. :) Guk!) I've done ONE deepest guk, and loved it. It does seem a bit rare to find anyone who wants to do anything other than mistmoore, though. I've done the 1 Deepest Guk, 7 Takish, and 41 Mistmoores (successfully...think I failed in 10 additional MMs, 1 Takish, and 0 in DG). I'd love to do an Everfrost or Rujarkian sometime. I'll have to talk my guild into doing one soon. :)

There are a few players who offer that "service" for a fee. There was a bard in Clan Werre (forget her name now) who used to run around advertising that she had unlocked all the dungeons (max spending limit of 1440 at all dungeons) and would purchase items for a 50ap fee. Don't know what kind of takers she got on this offer.
For some reason I never completely understood, Guk was always the least visited of the various dungeons. I unlocked both MM and EF early on and got close on Tak, but I think had a total of 2 adventures in Guk.

Guk has always been a little more difficult because of the narrow winding p***ages with inclines, and dark rooms that make it hard to see how many may add. The dx9 changes made it 3x harder because many mobs became untargetable with mouse. That said, I've always thought Guk was the most dungeonlike, so it's kind of nice from an immersion perspective.

Guk was probably my favorite dungeon set before DX9. Now I simply won't do hard missions in Guk because of the targeting issues.
