Does Depression Cause Stressers

(16 Messages)

Does depression cause stressors, or do stressers cause depression. If you did not have stress, would the depression go away? I know this sounds like, at least to me, what came first the chicken or the egg. Yet, does anyone have any insight on this, I remember getting up in the morning several weeks ago, and not feeling depressed. I went down stairs and saw a pile of paperwork that I needed to wade through. I thought, Oh, no big deal I will just do this, this, and this. It was a good day. Not sur ...

Stress Teen MatterscomStress - Teen -Matters.com STRESS Stress is the way your body reacts to change. These changes can come from feelings, situations and people, and they can be good or bad. Things that cause stress are called stressors -- change in your daily routine change in your health -- catching a cold, breaking an arm going to a new school divorce or separation of parents winning an award taking a test death of a relative imagining or fearing changes (this is called worrying) pushing your body too hard -- "hitting the wall," "running out of gas" relationships and peers overload ...

Stress and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder PTSD Causes DiagnosisStress and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Causes, Diagnosis What is stress? Stress is simply a fact of nature -- forces from the outside world affecting the individual. The individual responds to stress in ways that affect the individual as well as their environment. Hence, all living creatures are in a constant interchange with their surroundings (the ecosystem), both physically and behaviorally. This interplay of forces, or energy, is of course present in the relationships between all matter in the universe, whether it is living (animate) or not living (inanimate). However, there are critical differences in how different living creatures relate to their environment. ...

Stress has driven evolutionary change (the development and natural selection of species over time). Thus, the species that adapted best to the causes of stress (stressors) have survived and evolved into the plant and animal kingdoms we now observe. Man, because of the evolution of the human brain, especially the part called the neo-cortex, is the most adaptive creature on the planet. This adaptability is largely due to the changes and stressors that we have faced and mastered. Therefore, we, unlike other animals, can live in any climate or ecosystem, at various altitudes, and avoid the danger ...

Enough Talk AlreadyEnough Talk, Already By Laura Sessions Stepp Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, August 21, 2007; Page HE01 Drop by a high school cafeteria at lunchtime some day and listen to the girls' conversations. One may be commiserating with another over how much schoolwork they have. A couple of others might be fretting over how tired they are from lacrosse practice and that they're never going to get their college applications finished and that all this stress made them eat a whole bag of Oreos and now they'll never get into the size 0 jeans they ...

Turns out the answer to that is yes and no. Social scientists are realizing that while talking may strengthen female friendships and leave pals feeling temporarily better, it can also lead to increased anxiety and depression if perspective and problem-solving aren't included rather quickly. And what about the husband who listens every night to his wife complain about her job, then one morning at breakfast offers her steps to get out of her funk? Perhaps he deserves credit rather than having a cup of coffee thrown at him.

Dealing With Stress As A TeenDealing With Stress As A Teen Dealing With Stress As A Teen People often talk about stress in a negative way. “I was so stressed out last night that I couldn’t concentrate on the movie” But stress, by definition, is not all bad for us. Stress can be viewed as anything that causes us to change in some way and the way we react to this change. That’s a pretty general definition. Going to school each morning causes us to act in a certain way : You have to put on a school uniform, You have to prepare your books/homework for class, You have to take some form of transport, You have to arrive at school at a certain time. Depending ...

Stress Effects Everyone by Arthur BuchananStress Effects Everyone! by Arthur Buchanan Stress Effects Everyone! by Arthur Buchanan Children, teens, and their parents are under more stress than ever. Lists of “things to do” and “stars to reach for” grow longer. More to do means more stress to manage. This advice about stress management for children may seem ironic but holds true: When your child or teenager seems stressed by a busy schedule, schedule some time for free play. Free play offers an excellent opportunity for parents to interact with their children ...

Suicides anerexic cutters and how to help a friend who cutsSuicides.. anerexic, cutters and how to help a friend who cuts!! There are other ways to cope with difficulties, even big problems and terrible emotional pain. The help of a mental health professional might be needed for major life troubles. For other tough situations or strong emotions, it can help put things in perspective to talk problems over with parents, other adults, or friends. Believe it or not, getting plenty of exercise can also help put problems in perspective.

People who cut or self-injure sometimes have other mental health problems that contribute to their emotional tension. Cutting is sometimes (but not always) associated with depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, obsessive thinking, or compulsive behaviors. It can also be a sign of mental health problems that cause people to have trouble controlling their impulses or to take unnecessary risks. Some people who cut themselves have problems with drug or alcohol abuse.
