This is something which I've been thinking about mostly due to the recent private vs. public school thread, as well as the continuing vouchers saga. As I see it, there are four major specifics which figure in when choosing a school, whether elementary or college. 1. Physical Location 2. Price 3. Programming 4. Prestige Under the current system, in my area, there are three levels of elementary/secondary schools. Neighborhood public schools, which usually are the most physically convienent and the ...

I've been looking at schools of photography, and it has become apparent that there is a difference among schools that may be most easily deliniated as between art and technology. For instance, if you look at the classes offered by the Rochester Institute of Technology (rated #4 by US News & World Report), they are quite technical. Same goes for the Brooks Institute. However, if you look at the classes offered by some other schools, such as the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (number o ...

We're having trouble deciding which of two schools we want our daughter to go to. We've had a particular school in mind for a while, which is very popular locally and always oversubscribed. She's currently at the nursery of the other local school, which she really enjoys. Having read the Ofsted reports the school she's currently at gets a much better report. Are Ofsted reports worth taking any notice of? What about league tables, Key Stage results etc? I'm always suspicious of statistics as I've ...

OK, I wouldn't object to Ahmed going to an Islamic school. I don't know if you would, but I don't think anybody had high school in mind. I was listening to Bill O'Reilly aand he said he wouldn't object to any school as long as it was on an equal basis - Islamic included. Can you really believe they would be teaching hating Jews? Of course, unlike the liberal commentators, I DO believe that's what the Koran teaches. It's a religion of violent takeover. I live in an area with a large Arab populati ...

The Issue Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds, and the sixth leading cause of death for 5 to 14 year olds. The pressure on juniors and seniors is intense. They feel that they must succeed academically, socially and athletically. They feel that they absolutely have to get into the 'right' college. They push themselves to the limit. All you have to do is add other factors like sexuality and family issues such as divorce or finances and you have a recipe for disaster. 60 per cent of high school students recently surveyed indicated ...
School Problems and Troubled Teens School Problems and Other Issues Although academic problems alone may not justify employing the services of therapeutic boarding schools for troubled teens, often issues associated with those school problems do. Some such issues include authority conflict associated with learning disorders, psychological problems, substance abuse, emotional crisis, etc. From School Problems to a Bright Future Parents often watch helplessly as the hopes and dreams they once had for their teen fade into a dim future. School problems ...

In Defense of Dueling I support George W. Bush and the War on Terror! When we tell a man that he may not challenge another to a duel, we are telling him that he must swallow any insult to his person, family or tribe, that anyone else is free to insult him in any way they wish. This is a shameful affront to human dignity. People of bad character oppose dueling because it stands for several things that are a threat to the forces of evil. Dueling allows men to act as chivalrous defenders instead of rapacious despoilers. If men do not prey upon women, how will feminists convince women that they need NOW to protect ...
Brunette Republican Sex Kitten -- "Does anyone really care if rich jerks kill each other?" I suspect that when gold-digging politico-ho's realize that their prey are being prematurely extinguished, before they can be properly harvested, there will be a media outrage and Oprah will champion an exemplary campaign to save the female victims. You know, the usual feminist queefing en masse.
