Escondido residents worried about planned group youth homeEscondido residents worried about planned group youth home Escondido residents worried about planned group youth home By: PAUL EAKINS - Staff Writer ESCONDIDO ---- Saying they are concerned about their safety, among other things, residents of a largely elderly neighborhood near the Escondido Country Club are trying to prevent a group home for teenage boys from opening there. About 20 opponents showed up at the City Council meeting Wednesday with a petition signed by 66 people asking the city to keep the home from opening in the neighborhood in northwest Escondido.

Antonia Mitchell, who lives two houses from where the home is to open, told the council her neighborhood wasn't the right place for a group youth home and that residents hadn't been given a say in the home's location. Principal Youth Court Judge Andrew Becroft said ...

The facilities provide rehabilitation services for juveniles who have committed crimes and are under court supervision. Currently, the only zone ...

Sheriff Smith recognized as a Top 10 Youth Homes fund raiserSheriff Smith recognized as a Top 10 Youth Homes fund raiser Smith stresses that the children who are housed in the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes are not troubled youth, that is, they have not been in trouble with the law. The children who live in the youth homes are from less than desirable home environments, which is no fault of their own. The programs at the youth homes provide stable residential living environments with staffers who “parent” the children, along with educational opportunities and fun activities such as sports and recreation.
