Youth program - How ?

(10 Messages)

Dumbasses, Our local governing body has available a considerable amount of funding for youth programs geared towards racing (as opposed to safety/commuting) in Toronto and has approached us (my club) to propose a program. I can't even envision what the program woudl look like, give the usual constraints of working in a big city. There is not a lot of history with this sort of thing in our area so I wanted to hear about how other clubs have designed programs for city kids and how they have worked ...

The Death of a good YABA Program.

R.I.P Bowl One Lanes' Youth Bowling Program. After some 25+ years of running the Saturday youth bowling program at Bowl One Lanes in Troy, Michigan, Linda Malavolti has resigned. Arguably one of the best youth programs in Metro Detroit, this program will most likely no longer exist. All of Linda's leagues were YABA sanctioned. Many of her youth bowlers participated in city and state tournaments. Many of her bowlers participated in the Coke, now Pepsi, scholarship tournaments. A lot of those bowl ...

High-risk youth program

(9 Messages)

Hi. I work with a high-risk youth program. My piece is to provide recreational opportunities. We do hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, rafting, etc. We are trying to incorporate kayaking into the program, but the cost is prohibitive. Does anyone have an old kayak, skirt, paddle, or PFD they might be willing to donate. I can provide a non-profit receipt for actual value to use as a tax deduction. Thanks for the consideration, Steve Christensen

Is Plainfield running a summer youth employment programIs Plainfield running a summer youth employment program? Plainfield's Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) should be in full swing. Do you know whether it is? I was reminded this morning of the program when I saw a really nice writeup in the Ledger of New Brunswick's similar program, designed to give youngsters a taste of real adult work, along with a stipend and coaching in good work habits. Quite a number of City of Plainfield employees got their start in the summer youth program, including Tax Assessor (and first-time granny) Tracy Bennett. This year, however, you won't be reading about ...
